•   Theatrical feast, three years in the making, created with, for and about

     the Indigenous and founding immigrant communities of the Downtown

     Eastside.

•   A thank you from Vancouver Moving Theatre to the neighbourhood in

     which it was born.

 

•   Gathering of community-engaged artists of Indigenous and other

     cultural backgrounds, exploring ways we can come together in the

     shadow of colonialism and create new understanding

     both on unceded First Nations territories

 

May 10: Stanley Park event; Big House closing performance;  welcoming ceremony

May 11: conference sessions; trip to Musqueam Display at Museum of Anthropology

May 12: Train of Thought workshop; Symposium evaluation;  departure ceremony

 

Our cross-country train journey will get its send-off with Train of Thought evolving workshop, activities, celebration and territorial protocols at the Roundhouse Community Centre ending with a departure ceremony.

ENDERBY

•   Morning train arrival in Kamloops and travel to Enderby, meeting others from

     Vancouver who have travelled by bus or car

 

May 14:  Runaway Moon's sharing of past and current projects and tour of outdoor project sites; reunion of the Tuwitames project (produced in Summer 2014) at Splatsin First Nation

May 15: Train of Thought workshop, return to Kamloops

May 16: Kamloops train departure

As a continuation of our 203 series of Picnics in the Park. we will be artistically and ceremonially connecting with the Indigenous names this territory's lakes.

The launch of Mobile Mabelle's vintage camper trailer/Mobile Art Studio, produced in partnership with the City of Toronto's Hotspot.

Art-making, treats prepared by the Mabelle Ladies Cooking Circle, and a tour of the Mabelle Park with music and other performances.

 

Sun June 7, 1-5 PM at Cedar Ridge Creative Centre, 225 Confederation Dr, Scarborough:

Arts of The Americas community celebration and BBQ. Drop-in art-making activities, performances by the Scarborough-Nipissing Youth exchange, traditional and contemporary dancing by Aanmitaagzi and more.

Drum Social, led by Bear Nation Drum with Dancers and performance by Sarah Yankoo and refreshments

 

5 PM  Train of Thought arrives in Killaloe, Station Park

5ish-6:15pm Food sharing intimate-style potluck picnic (we are not allowed to publicly promote the picnic)

6:30 pm  Gathering/Celebration open to the general public, Killaloe welcome choir performs, and creative facilitation with Train of Thought & OV-CAOS artists.

1PM – 5PM: Workshop co-facillitated by Concordia students and Rencontres/Encounters artists (7th Floor of JMSB Building, 1450 rue Guy – corner of Guy & Maisonneuve)

Information about the workshop:

-Opening activity will be around the following question, which participants may

wish to consider beforehand: “What do you need to make extraordinary conversations happen?”

6PM – 9:30PM: Evening celebration and meal hosted in collaboration with

RECCA, Contactivity, and other seniors’ groups, including interactive activity

facilitated by students, performances by RECAA and R/E, video interviews,

music and dancing. 1590 Docteur Penfield (at Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges).

June 18: 5:30pm Arrival and grand finale celebration at Halifax Train station, with performances by Halifax Circus, Eastern Eagles, Louise Arsenault & Helene Bergeron (Acadian musical duo) and others - Free & open to the public.

 

June 19, 20: Workshop at Halifax Circus with travelling and local artists, with culminating presentation on June 20th at 5:30 - Halifax Circus, 1479 Barrington St. Presentation free and open to the public (donations welcome).

 

June 21: Journey's End and Summer Solstice celebration, food rest and reflections at the Deanery Project (Ship Harbour) - Open by invitation to Travellers, partners and friends.
